Stacks Community Events: June Recap
At the Stacks Foundation, June has been a whirlwind of exciting conferences, hackathons, workshops and meetups. Check out what we’ve been up to and find out how you can join us at future events.
WEB3 WEEK - June 1-3
The Stacks Foundation hosted a multi-day virtual event where we looked at art before ads, giving over gatekeepers, and value exchange versus extraction called Web3 Week. The three day event received thousands of views and included an all-star list of speakers from across the NFT, music and blockchain space. Here’s a breakdown of each day:
  • June 1:itsNFT’ in partnership with Ninjalerts. The Investing and Trading Summit for NFTs was a free 1-day virtual conference and exhibition that welcomed new NFT investors and traders. Speakers included Andrew Wang (NFT artist), Muneeb Ali (Stacks/Trust Machines), Brittany Laughlin (Stacks Foundation), Vinnie Hager (NFT artist), BoredElonMusk (@BoredBox_), Trevor Owens (Stacks Ventures), CyberCodeTwins, and many more.

  • June 2:GameFi & Metaverse Conference’ in partnership with Crash Punks, focused on the latest in GameFi, building a metaverse secured by Bitcoin, and more. Speakers included: Neal Stephenson (Author of Snow Crash and coiner of the term ‘Metaverse’), Grace Ng (Crash Punks), Sarah Satoshi (Ladies in Bitcoin), Alemsah “NFT” Ozturk (@4129Grey @Ogilvy @AKQA), Ana Maria Caballero (theVERSEverse), and many others!

  • June 3: Unmuteable: The first of its kind, flagship event for artists, leaders, and technologists working where music x blockchain. We heard from Web3 leaders, executives in the music industry, platinum-selling artists, subject matter experts, and others. It was a dual track / jam packed event filled with incredible speakers from Limewire, Royal, Stacks Foundation, Warner Music, Solana Foundation, Audius, Rally.io, Soundmint and more!

Consensus - June 8-12
Consensus 2022 by CoinDesk, took place June 9-12 in Austin, Texas, and featured speakers such as Meltem Demirors, Mike Novogratz, Patrick Stanley (CityCoins) and more. The Stacks Foundation produced three events during this blockchain week and partnered with Hiro on a Stacks branded booth activation at the Consensus conference. Here is the breakdown:
  • The Stacks Foundation hosted a Stacks Happy Hour at Parlor Room on Rainey Street on June 8 to welcome existing and new Stacks community members to the hot week ahead in Austin. The event saw 200 people and was a great spot to kick-off Consensus week.
  • Stacks Austin Chapter Developer Workshop at The Pershing was held on June 9th and featured Kenny Rogers (Developer Advocate, Stacks Foundation) and Joe Bender (Community Manager, Hiro Systems). The two discussed the Clarity Smart Contract Language, Stacks Updates, Hiro Developer Tooling Overview, Clarinet Updates and much more. Interested in joining the Stacks Austin Chapter?   • On Friday, June 10th, Stacks Foundation hosted an event at Garage with DJ J.Rocc. The event featured an NFT gallery sponsored by Gamma, great cocktails and light bites for people interested in hearing more about Stacks and connecting IRL.
Last but not least, Stacks held a booth activation at Consensus that received non-stop engagement over the course of the two main conference days. The Foundation team along with Joe Bender from Hiro spoke about Stacks, how to get involved and gave attendees cards that activated a vending machine stocked full of Stacks branded surprises and bespoke NFTs brought to you by Satoshibles and Gamma. Over 2k pieces of merch was distributed over two days, equipping many new Stackers with some sweet swag!
Miami for Everyone Hack - June 17-19
The Stacks Foundation and CityCoins partnered in sponsoring Venture Miami’s ‘Miami for Everyone Hackathon’. Miami for Everyone was an inclusive three-day event for the citizens of Miami completely new to technology and an opportunity for skilled practitioners to create solutions around local problems.

The event saw about 200 attendees throughout the weekend, primarily Miami locals who were new to Web3. The Stacks Clarity Bootcamp cohort was involved in teaching Clarity to hackers and received a handful of great submissions for the Clarity/MiamiCoin challenge. NFT NYC - June 20-23
Stacks was actively involved in NFT NYC week with several speaking spots at the conference (from the teams at Ryder, Gamma, CrashPunks, @marylai_co from the Mintery, HeyLayer, and more), an event hosted by Megapont at Sony Music Hall, a Clarity Developer Workshop at EmpireDAO and a Stacks Foundation produced event at GHOST in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The event featured live music from DJ's Harrison First and Neighbours as well as apps, cocktails, and a 20 screen NFT gallery from Gamma and Xverse in our favorite Web3-integrated wellness experience space, GHOST. If you’re looking for a gym in Brooklyn where you can catch the latest Stacks NFTs - this is your spot.
EUROPEAN BLOCKCHAIN CONVENTION - June 26-28
Stacks was at the European Blockchain Convention held in Barcelona, Spain. 1500 attendees, 130 international speakers, 200 media partners, 50 volunteers and 500 1:1 meetings made the event a complete success.

  • Building DAOs
  • DeFi latest trends
  • Migrating services to Web 3
  • European legislation for crypto

Dev Workshops
On Wednesday, June 29th the Stacks Foundation held a workshop on 'Web3 for Bitcoin: The What, Why, and How of Building on Stacks' with Kenny Rogers (Developer Advocate, Stacks Foundation), Joe Bender (Community Manager, Hiro Systems).

The conversation focused on the following topics:

The first cohort of the Web3 Founders Lab has been going hard on validating ideas, connecting with potential users, and getting a crash course in all things startup.
